Dermal Filler Treatment in Tempe and Phoenix AZ

Dermal filler injections are used to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, give the skin a more youthful appearance, and fill in hollow cheeks and thin lips. These products are available at most Medspas.

Are all dermal fillers basically the same?

Dermal fillers are all made from hyaluronic acid, which is a gel injected under the skin to add volume. Juvederm and Juvederm Voluma XC both help the skin stay hydrated and firm, but the XC version is thicker and more durable. Juvederm Voluma XC is used to add volume to the cheeks, where Juvederm is used around the eyes, lower face, and lips.

Who is a good candidate for a dermal filler treatment?

Dermal fillers work well for nearly anyone who is interested in improving facial appearance. The hyaluronic acid solution adds volume to lips, cheeks, and under the eyes. Most dermal fillers are safe, as they are derived from ingredients found naturally in the body.

What are some other different types of dermal fillers?

At our Medspa, we use:

  • Sculptra® Aesthetic
  • RADIESSE®
  • JUVÉDERM
  • JUVEDERM VOLUMA XC
  • VOLBELLA XC
  • Restylane®

What can I expect when the dermal filler wears off?

Dermal fillers are not permanent solutions. Depending on the amount and type of filler used, you will need another treatment in 1-2 years. The hyaluronic acid and other ingredients in the fillers will gradually break down and filter from the body through normal processes. With Sculptra® Aesthetic, the poly-L lactic acid promotes collagen growth, so over time, the filler is flushed from the body but the newly formed collagen stays behind.

Can I combine a dermal filler with another procedure?

We often recommend receiving dermal filler injections along with Botox or Dysport injections. Called the “liquid facelift,” these two products combined will give you a youthful look while preventing future wrinkles.

How can I make my facial results last after dermal filler injections?

Dermal fillers do not offer permanent results, but they do give you many months of noticeable improvement. Along with your unique anatomy, the longevity of the dermal filler depends on the type of agent used. There is little downtime after the procedure, and results are best maintained by regular appointments.

What can I expect after dermal filler injections?

Slight bruising is common after dermal filler injections. When Juvederm is used under the facial skin and near the eyes, expect some bruising of the tear troughs. You should wait a week before receiving any facial manipulation or procedures, such as laser treatment, microdermabrasion, and facials. Swelling after Juvederm can occur, and it usually resolves in 5-8 days.

What if I have puffy eyes after dermal fillers?

Some people have slight darkened circles and puffy eyes following Juvederm treatments. This is often due to light travelling through the colloidal medium of the filler suspension. When the light gets scattered by the hyaluronic acid particles, it can give the skin a bluish look.

What aftercare instructions should I know about?

After your dermal filler procedure, you can resume normal activities, return to work, and drive yourself home. As with any injection, there may be some redness at the needle insertion site. Regular makeup application is advised, and you should use a small ice pack to alleviate any discomfort.
